Romania at the World Exhibition from Barcelona, 1929
The Romanian Pavilion was on the higher platform of the Exhibition, near the Spanish and Italian Pavilions.
The Pavilion had two rooms made entirely of wood. The roof was sustained by a platform surrounded by plants and flowers.
The interior elements of the construction, colons, windows, had sculptures showing traditional Romanian motives.
The pavilion's interior was very simplistic, with many surfaces with grey cloths, to give, in this way, relief to the objects shown on a surface of proxy. 400sqm.
The different sections of the Pavilion showed the visitors an image of the Romanian people's past, of the country's richness and of the Romania's intellectual activity from all the aspects.
The pavilion was made by the architectural plans of the architect Duiliu Marcu.
The Romanian Committee for this exhibition was composed from important Romanian personalities of that time: Prof. D. Gusti, I.M Sadoveanu, Prof. Al. Tzigara-Samurcas, and many more. |
